Canadian Open Stepdance Champion (Intermediate)
Maigan Hominick has over 100 trophies, plaques and medals in both fiddle and stepdance. She won the junior Canadian Open Stepdance Championship two years in a row, came second in the 12 and under and in 2003, she won the Canadian Open Stepdance Championship in the 18 and under division. Maigan is also a champion fiddler and up until the present time, is the only junior girl/boy to have won both the Canadian Junior Open Championship in stepdance and the Canadian Junior Open Fiddle Competition in the same year
Maigan is probably better know for her ability to "dance and play the fiddle at the same time". She was fortunate to win 2nd place in the Canadian Open Novelty Fiddle Championships in Shelburne at a very young age.
Maigan has been fortunate to have performed with famous names such as Amy Sky,
danced at Centennial Hall in London with Natalie MacMaster, conducted a stepdance
workshop for The Pierre Schryer Band, www.pierreschryer.com
at the Canterbury Folk Festival in Ingersoll. Maigan is also the proud recipient
of an "Achievement Award" from the Town of Ingersoll. Maigan and her
stepdance students support many charitable functions in Oxford County. For more
